Taking the high road

We had a nice brekkie cooked by Laura (the owner of CastleCroft B & B in Stirling). Before we left Stirling, we went inside Mr Simm's sweet shop where I bought a small box of Angry Birds fruit gummies. We also bought some Scottish tablet (aka fudge). It's the BEST sweet shop i've ever been to. We also saw a model of the Loch Ness Monster in the shop window made entirely out of lollies. We then took the high road to Loch Lomond (STOP SINGING THAT SONG MUM! I'TS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
There were LOTS of different stones on the shore of the loch. Different sizes, different colours, different shapes, etc, etc, etc. We stopped at Oak Tree Inn. There were 8 clocks (6 were grandfather clocks) I had hot fudge cake & an AMAZING hot chocolate and mum and dad both had scones & coffee. We saw some highland cattle on the drive round the loch. Then we drove back to Edinburgh Park to spend our last night in Scotland at the Premier Inn (again) before we catch the train to London tomorrow.

  1. Excellant choice Riley !!! Dolly loves hot chocolate !! I don't mind it but I prefer beer.. What about the Haggis before you leave Scotland... Surely you must try the Haggis ?

Very hot in BrisVegas today.. I would say a storm is brewing... There was a tremendous Electrical storm early Tuesday morning luckily it was far out in the Bay....or it would have woken the whole city up !! Did you find any hidden Jacobite treasure among the rocks? There's lots of it all over Scotland... Yes, I imagine your Mum singing would drive you crazy... Have you been lost again?? Keep having a good time little mate..

  2. Hi Toss, Riley forgot to mention he tried my haggis - and said he liked it! Can't believe I tried it, and enjoyed it too!! Better weather today and we are now aboard the train heading to London. There is a food service today (not being a weekend) so enjoying it much more!
Where is Dolls? Let her on the computer to send us a message.
Brenton sent us some pics of Rex "missing us'. He was photographed sleeping on Daniela's and Dougie's bed with just his little head peeking out of the pillows and another of him sitting on a seat at a restaurant at Portside! What are they doing to our dog? He will expect this treatment when we get home!

  3. Love the photos Riles. Especially the one of you (I think) sitting on the rocks at the edge of the Loch. Did you know that the highland cattle have a special name in Scotland? They're called Heeland Coos. A bit of a strange name I must admit but spelling it out certainly helps the rest of the world with the local pronunciation!!!!
That hot chocolate looks "to die for" as Aunty Sue would say. I hope you'll be bringing back some of that Scottish tablet for us all to try.
Keep the blogs coming. I love reading about your adventures (particularly the haggis one!!! Can't believe Dad tried it. He must have been feeling the tug of his wild Scottish ancestors.)
Take care and write again soon. Can't wait to hear how you all navigate London!
    Lots of love
    Aunty Jayne xoxo
