HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I couldn"t post yesterday because we didn't have wi-fi in our cottage.
Yesterday we went to Melrose Abbey. It was really interesting. It was built in the 12th century and it was destroyed by King Richard II of England. We listened to an audio like at the Roman Baths. Robert the Bruce's heart is buried there. We had lunch at Melrose and I had a chocolate ice cream.
It was a warm, sunny day (we couldn't believe it!!) Then we went on a long drive and saw really nice green Scottish countryside and steep hills where sheep were balancing on the sides.
Went to a place called Crawford where my ancestors the Cranstoun ran the Crawford Inn. It's still there but really run down.
Today was 24/09/13 and we drove over the firth of forth bridge. There was lots of low cloud, fog and no sunshine. We had lunch at The Green Room at Dunfermline. It was a great cafe and I used wi-fi for the first time in 2 days. I had a cheese toasty & a hot chocolate with marshmallows and mum & dad both had a salmon baguette & tea. We went to Stirling castle. I sat on the kings throne an ordered dad's head be cut off. It was old and interesting and it dates back to the 15th century. Mary Queen of Scots grew up there. People were walking around in costume. We are staying at CastleCroft B & B at Stirling. We had dinner at the River House restaurant. Mum tried HAGGIS!
And she LIKED it (nanna won't BELIEVE it).
Very flash having a chuch named after you !!! Did the roof fall in when your Mum went inside ?? Where are you staying Riley?? What are you eating? Will Dolly like the curtains? When will your parents get lost again ???
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have good weather for your look about Scotland. It was 38 degrees in Ipswich today. 32 degrees in Bris Vegas apparently !!! I bet the salmon population has shrunk some what with you Cranstoun lot grazing your way about Scotland. Has Dad had kippers yet ?? Try a steak whilst there..Very nice !!!
Love Toss
Hi Riley and the Travelling Cranstoun
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't checked in for a while to see what you've been up to. First week back at work and the emails have piled up!! Your blog is so much more interesting.
Stirling Castle would have been amazing and what a history it has. Some of the bottoms that would have sat on that throne would have been mighty indeed!!!!! And you can now say you have come into contact with the DNA of some of the greatest bottoms in Scotland!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps you'd better not.....Mum might not be very impressed.
Did you manage to bring Dad's head back with you? It is an interesting head but it's not really that old and it's certainly not 15th century!!!! A little respect for your father please Riles.....
It sounds like you're all having a wonderful time and let mum and dad know the gym is still where they left it. They might need to pay it a few visits after all the culinary delights that have been sampled along the way. A bit of a travelling foodies' trip by the sound of it Perhaps a book in the making.....
Anyway continue to enjoy everything. TRY to keep your Mum under control and make sure you keep the ice up to Dad's head....it may begin to smell if you don't.
Lot's of love
Aunty Jayne xoxo
