Roman baths of Bath

The weather was rainy (for anyone who wants to know). We were driving to Bath and stopped at a town named Lacock where we went to this pub called the George Inn for lunch where I had kids fish & chips, mum had a lamb burger and dad had faggots (YUCK). We saw this wheel that turns a spit over the fireplace which was powered by a turnspit dog (extinct dog breed). We also saw 4 people that looked historical. Turns out they were going to a Jane Austen festival in Bath. After lunch, we were walking around the village and went inside a church where we donated some money. After that, we went to Bath. We got lost, AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>:(
We went to the Roman baths where we wore these things around our necks that we type numbers into so we get historical info about the baths. They were really interesting. I loved it! It was like a museum.

  1. Yum, lucky Dad !! I love faggots!!! Order a steak and Kidney pudding for Dad next!! He will love it. If you are good he may let you dip your chips in the gravy.. My mouth is watering !!!

Riley, did you see any Rotten Romans reclining at their ruined baths... Oops, I ran out of R,s !!! Bath is a truly magnificent example of Romano British architecture... To think they are still there, amazing... Don't get overly annoyed about the rain little mate.. It is a feature of the British Isles that you can get used to if you stay there long enough..I would imagine Mum loves the weather.. I beleive she is actually a secret Pom !!! The English mostly enjoy the good or bad weather.. Infact you will often meet up with someone walking their dogs in the pouring rain.. They will be out enjoying the weather. To them and their dogs they just get on with life !!! Allot of the poeple in the world call the British eccentric or just plain crazy because of this behaviour. I beleive your Mum belongs to the latter group !!

I'm so excited for you getting about all over the place.. I wonder what you'll be telling us about next? Will your parents gat lost again or will Mummy hold the map up the right way?? Will Riley use the map and end up in France ??? What fun !! Dolly and Toss never use a GPS.. We only have a map and have allot of fun and see so much more because of it !!!! Now as I know your Dad is an adventuring soul get him to try steak and Kidney pudding( ask nicely if he'll let you dip your chips in the gravy) and a nice big pint of brown ale.. Now that's living high !!! And get Mum to have Haddock with mushy peas... By the way did Mum have a good birthday? I hope she didn't get sozzled , play up and embarass you !!

We love your blog !! What a great idea !! Have a good time and give Mum and Dad our love !!! Toss

    1. Hi Toss, Riley is enjoying your posts. But where is Jen? Show her where the comment button is. And tell her I have been writing away in the travel diary she gave me for my birthday. I bought some generic reading glass from Boots so I can see again after loosing my specks on the plane!
And, Toss, after the faggots recommendation no one here is taking culinary advice from you. I can't believe you told ME to try them - offal, yuck.

  2. Dear Riley,
Did you try drinking the water at the restaurant / coffee shop at the Bath baths? It smells like like your dirty socks but is supposed to be good for you!
We went for a drive up to Yandina and Maleny on Thursday with Danny and Doug - but we had really great weather and no rain. And we didn't get lost.... Surprisingly Rex seems to be better behaved these days and doesn't go quite so crazy when we visit. And he's even better when people are in the pool!
Nana bought you a bee for when you get back.
Well have some more adventures so you can write another long blog entry for us all back here working hard in Oz.
    Cheers,
    Favourite Uncle and Nanna.

  3. Hi Brenton and Mother,
No didn't try the water at Roman Baths - it stank!
Tell Rex he is going to be in big trouble when we get home - he is a fickle little Jack Russell! He will want to go back to Melb with Daniela and Doug! Hope they are doing ok in the house. We met a whippet called Ralphie at our cottage in the Cotswolds. Reminded us of Rex - and jumped higher! Ralphie was the only badly behaved dog we met in the Cotswolds!!
Big thanks for my birthday pounds - very generous. As Riley wrote I've already spent it on a souvenir of the Cotsolds.
    Love
